About ~ “The Oval Portrait” is inspired by a short horror story by Edgar Allan Poe. It’s a disturbing love story about a painter who is obsessed with depicting life and becomes blind to life itself.
The Process ~ Initially, I sketch out my ideas in thumbnails, considering the composition. Then, I collect reference and inspiration and settle on a final sketch idea. I begin the final drawing by lightly drawing my sketch with an HB pencil. Then, I lay down watercolor washes and build up the paint.
